GORY: MAYHEM, AS ARMY SHOOTS TO KILL YOUTH AMIDST ‘COVID19-LOCKDOWN’

Gory scenes flood that internet following fatal clashes between the Nigerian Army and youths in Warri, a town in the Delta State of Nigeria.
In the wake of the novel Covid-19 pandemic, various approaches have been adopted by nations to curb the rapidly growing menace. Among these strategies is the notable declaration of partial to full lockdown in a number of countries including some African countries such West African neighbours: Ghana and Nigeria.
This development has however, not been without controversies as both countries have reportedly recorded occasional incidences of altercations between security agencies and civilians.
In one of such incidences in Nigeria, a young man, whose name has been disclosed as Joseph Pessu, was - in the early hours of Thursday, 2nd April, 2020 - allegedly shot to death by the Nigerian Army. An incident that reportedly occurred on the NPA Express Way in Warri, Nigeria.

The exact event that provoked the shooting remains unclear. However, according to speculations by witnesses and families on social media, the recently engaged young man, was served this gory fate following a brief exchange with the Army officials after he was found outside his home against the President’s directive regarding the lockdown aimed at dealing with the Covid-19 outbreak.
The incident is reported to have provoked further tension between the youths in Warri and the Nigerian Army with a number of unconfirmed deaths recorded
